iCET Presents at UNEP Event - Reforming Fossil-Fuel Subsidies for an Inclusive Green Economy
Nairobi. April 28-29th. A two-day workshop on ‘Reforming Fossil Fuel Subsidies for an Inclusive Green Economy’ took place last month in Nairobi. The workshop was hosted by the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and supported by the Global Subsidies Initiative (GSI), the German development agency GIZ and the International Monetary Fund (IMF). As the Representative from China, iCET President, Dr. Feng An, provided insight on China fossil fuel subsides and low-carbon development policies.

iCET's president Dr. Feng An was invited to attend the panel with the theme "International policy formulation and program development" at the conference. He discussed the recent development of greenhouse gas trading systems around the world with participants, especially the seven pilot carbon trading platforms in China, as well as the formation of "new market mechanisms" in other developing countries. He also discussed the possible relationship between the interconnection of these systems in the future.

iCET recently released a new report on China Bio-Energy Policy and Regulation. The report, supported by Energy Foundation China, summarizes China’s updated policies and regulations related to biomass based energy, including ethanol, diesel, bio-jet fuel, bio-electricity, as well as bio-solid fuel and biogas.
