iCET's ZEV-Credits Article Published by China Auto News

Although China entered the EV market later than California did, the potential and opportunities are big. China's EV market offered benefits such as national strategic plans and financial support, battery production capacity and advancements, rich lithium-ion resources and rare earth materials, fast development pace, and existing relations (JVs) with global EV manufacturers. Currently, China's electric vehicle policies are mainly demand-side driven (e.g. purchase subsidies and tax reliefs); however with a lack of an attractive supply side “push” and effective infrastructure plans and management, the EV market may remain a niche market. A long-term and well enforced ZEV mandate is projected to promote the manufacturing of EVs by all types of automakers, therefore providing consumers with more EV model options to meet the varying expectations and needs. Coupled with demand-side “pull” for the short term, the EV market can finally grow.

iCET organizes Zero Emissions Vehicles (ZEVs) Roundtable Discussion with Shenzhen and Beijing Stakeholders 

The Shenzhen ZEV stakeholder engagement workshop was co-organized with Shenzhen Low-Carbon Development Foundation (SCDF, and was supported by the Shenzhen DRC. In order to achieve better EV commercialization in China through the promotion of the market-based ZEV credits mandate, iCET co-organized the Zero Emissions Vehicles (ZEVs) Roundtable Discussion with Beijing Stakeholders on March 20.

iCET organizes Zero Emissions Vehicles (ZEVs) Roundtable Discussion With Beijing Stakeholders

iCET co-organized the Zero Emissions Vehicles (ZEVs) Roundtable Discussion on March 20 in Beijing with Beijing Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Center (BEEC) operating under the municipal Development and Reform Commission (DRC). The goal was to strengthen EV commercialization in China through the promotion of the market-based ZEV credits mandate. Speakers included representatives from Tesla Motors, iCET, CATARC, and Beijing NEV Promotion Center. Participants included vehicle companies, Beijing DRC, Beijing ETS, Beijing Transport commission, NRDC, the Energy Foundation and others.

iCET organizes Zero Emissions Vehicles (ZEVs) workshop in Beijing and Shenzhen

Shenzhen DRC commissioned iCET to research and host a workshop regarding Zero Emissions Vehicle (ZEV). The introduction and study report along with the recommendation paper developed by iCET, served as part of its ZEV credits project.They were introduced to local NEV stakeholders during the workshop, which was held in Shenzhen’s government building. ZEV stakeholder from Shenzhen were engaged in the workshop that was co-organized with Shenzhen Low-Carbon Development Foundation (SCDF) and supported by the Shenzhen DRC. The workshop provided local stakeholders with best-practices and lessons learnt from the leading California ZEV-Credits program. It also offered recommendations for local mandate development, and enabled stakeholder engagement and discussion regarding the promotion of ZEVs in China.Over 30 experts, officials, and industry representatives participated in the workshop.

iCET as China CAFC expert, was invited to speak at a recent Automotive Roundtable 

iCET’s president, Dr. Feng An, was invited to speak as a China CAFC expert at the "Corporate Average Fuel Consumption Automotive Roundtable", which was held in Beijing earlier this month. The topic that was discussed at the forum was the challenges and opportunities for the automotive industry in China amid changing regulatory environment. Dr. An stated that energy security and air quality are the two major forces that will promote the development of new energy vehicles and fuel consumption reduction governance in China. In addition, pure electric vehicles will gradually take over China’s private vehicle market. Leading industry players attended the roundtable that was organized by "German-Inspire Events” roundtable, including president of Hangzhou IVECO Automobile Transmission Technology as well as executives from China ABO Cummins, FAIST, FEV, Fiat-Chrysler and other major automotive corporations.
