iCET holds China-US Climate Leaders Summit-Low Carbon Transportation Forum
On June 8, 2016 , the Innovation Center for Energy and Transportation (iCET) hosted the " Low Carbon Transportation Transformation” panel at the second China-US Climate Smart / Low Carbon Cities Summit. The goal was to use new technologies, new models and new mechanisms to accelerate low-carbon transportation, cleaning process under the new era as wellas the new driven background. A total of 130 industry leaders attended the event, including mayors from China and the US, all levels of transportation related government leaders, representatives from research institutions, automotive companies, as well as from media and IT travel platforms.

During the U.S.-China Climate Leaders' Summit, a consortium led by iCET (Innovation Center for Energy and Transportation) introduced an open initiative for developing a big-data based standard to make governments and companies accountable for their environmental impact. The initiative encourages public-private collaboration to develop and use MRV as a tool to tackle climate change challenges in the transportation sector. With an open consortium including NDRC-ERI, the research arm of China’s central policy planning ministry, and Uber China, a leading ride-hailing service provider, public and private stakeholders cooperated on initial MRV development.

iCET was invited to share its insights on US-China regulatory and technology developments towards the acceleration of the NEV market. Maya Ben Dror, iCET’s Clean Transportation Transformation Director, also participated in a panel discussion on China’s NEV future challenges and its linkage to the Internet. Among attendees were distinguished city representatives, experts, foundations and technology companies.

iCET joined the opening ceremony of the Beijing New Energy Vehicle Test Driving which was held on April 22, Earth Day, in the Beijing Automobile Museum by the Beijing New Energy Automotive Development Promotion Center, Beijing Automobile Museum, and Beijing New Energy Auto Experience Center. By organizing the BestEV final qualitative criteria illustration (v1.0) through text drives questionnaires and a focused group, iCET and its partners calibrated the accuracy and impact of its newly established BestEV system for enhancing EV adoption in China.

iCET was invited to introduce the "Transportation in the Era of Big Data: Public-Private Cooperation on Transportation Data" project at the World Bank Brown Bag Lunch meeting on April 18th in Washington DC. Hosted by the Urban Mobility GSG, Green Transport and ICT department of World Bank, Dr. An Feng, founder and executive director of iCET, introduced the initial results of the new project "Live-cycle Analysis on Urban Transportation: Pilot Analysis of Chengdu, China" while Mr. Alex Morales, a dedicated LiveCycle project team member, introduced the Live-Cycle big-data generated methodology for a global value chain (GVC).
