News I iCET Engages in In-Depth Discussions with the Shanghai Municipal Transportation Commission and Conducts Research Visits to Related Enterprises
On the morning of August 1, iCET held a meeting with the Shanghai Municipal Transportation Commission. Participants included Wang Hengjie, Deputy Director of the Comprehensive Transportation Division; Qiu Ping, Deputy Director of the Port Administration Division; Zhang Yanheng, Fourth-Level Researcher; Zhang Yingjie, First-Level Principal Staff Member of the Science and Technology Information Division; and Huang Fei, Third-Level Principal Staff Member.
Deputy Director Qiu Ping provided an overview of the basic profile of the Shanghai Port, the functional arrangements of its “One Port, Eight Zones” system, and the progress of green port development. In terms of clean energy application, Shanghai Port has largely completed its transition from oil to electricity and from oil to gas, resulting in a significant decline in both total carbon emissions and per-TEU emission intensity at its container terminals.
Zhang Yingjie shared insights into the development of new-energy vehicles in Shanghai, highlighting the application of new-energy commercial vehicles and the challenges they face. Researcher Zhang Yanheng discussed the supply–demand landscape of green methanol and issues related to green fuel certification. Huang Fei introduced China Eastern Airlines’ progress and future plans in sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). Deputy Director Wang Hengjie also exchanged views with iCET on international cooperation among major global ports.
Dr. An Feng, Honorary Director of iCET’s Advisory Committee, remarked that green energy transition in ports is an irreversible trend. As a global leader in port operations, China not only bears the responsibility to advance green port development but also possesses the capacity and momentum to drive this transition. By integrating clean energy and innovative technologies, China is well-positioned to promote sustainable development in the port industry.
Later that day, iCET visited Jiangsu Super Panther Power Technology Co., Ltd and Greenwater New Navigation Technology Co., Ltd. At Super Panther Power , Co-Founder and COO Lu Xiaoxing introduced the company’s four core self-developed technologies and showcased its electric commercial vehicle models and real-world operational scenarios across various applications. At Greenwater New Navigation, Gao Shihan, General Manager of Strategic Development, gave a detailed overview of the company’s business layout in electric vessel design and construction, marine containerized battery systems, and the development and operation of vessel charging and swapping stations. Both sides engaged in discussions on the green transition of electric vessels and the sector’s domestic and international development trends.

Through this series of exchanges and site visits, iCET gained deeper insights into the challenges and contradictions faced during the green fuel transition in port operations, acquired first-hand understanding of electric commercial vehicle deployment in ports and mining scenarios, and developed a clearer picture of the operational models and development status of electric vessels.
Promoting green port development and the electrification of commercial vehicles is a systematic undertaking—one that requires not only technological innovation and equipment upgrades, but also strong policy support, economic incentives, and cross-sector collaboration. iCET will continue to follow the progress of green transitions in the transportation sector and contribute to advancing environmental sustainability.
