News I iCET and AutoNavi develop Green Car application for smart phones: 9 million users targeted
Dec 15, 2010, iCET signed an agreement with AutoNavi to develop a tailored version of Mini map for green cars. The cooperation between iCET and AutoNavi will promote the development of EFVs (environmentally friendly vehicles) in China and make a contribution to energy-saving and environment protection.
AutoNavi is a leading solution provider of digital navigation maps and location services in China. Its software, "Mapabc geographic information system" provides an effective solution for use in mobile terminals and interactive internet map services. Mini Map, a self-developed mobile terminal software, can support Symbian, iOS, Android, Windows Mobile and other major smart phone operating systems with the main functions of map browsing, GPS location services, Point of Interest search, live search, bus/car route query, base station location, and real-time traffic information for main cities in China. Currently, there are more than 9 million registered users.
The Mini Map application, including the Green Car rating system developed by iCET and AutoNavi will retain all the features of the original Mini Map, but will add a feature that allows the user to search for green scores of vehicles in China, as well as calculate trip carbon emissions in order to help users to choose greener and more environmentally friendly cars and trips. It can also estimate the vehicle's carbon emissions based on the user's actual driving habits. Along with the development of the market, the software will be enriched and updated regularly. The first version will be released in early 2011. At that time, users will have a real-time online application platform for mobile terminals to query green scores and calculate the carbon emissions of their own cars and join iCET in advocating for green personal transport.
