News I iCET Provides Low Carbon Management Support to Chinese Universities

Strong governmental policy, enterprises’ energy conservation and reduction practices, and communities’ attempts of reducing emission remain essential as China enters the era of low-carbon development. Equally important, however, is the participation of the youth and low-carbon development among universities.

As the strategic partner of China Youth Climate Action Network (CYCAN), The Innovation Center of Energy and Transportation (iCET) provides technical support for CYCAN’s higher-education energy-conservation projects. iCET also helps develop Campus Carbon Calculation Guidelines, supporting the cultivation of a new generation of Chinese climate leadership.

On March 30th and April 13th, iCET’s Carbon Management Program Officer, Xueyu Li, spoke at the university energy-conservation workshops in Shanghai and Beijing. She introduced the methods of carbon calculation and related equipment utilization to two-hundred university representatives from 30 universities and colleges across the nation.  ‘Without quantification, there is no management’, she said.  Accurate and reliable greenhouse gas emission data are the foundation for building up the campuses’ low-carbon and zero emission programs.
