News I iCET releases 2012 Green Rankings of China’s Car Industry
In order to promote the sustainable development of China’s automobile
industry, Innovation center for energy and transportation (iCET) held a seminar
at the Chang Fu Gong hotel in Beijing to discuss China automobile fuel economy
development. Executive Director of iCET, Dr. Feng An, launched “2012
Average Fuel Consumption Ranking of China Automobile Enterprises” and “2012
China Environmental Friendly Vehicles Green Ranking” at the seminar.
iCET analyzed the parameters of Top 10 best-selling vehicles,
focusing on the popular models of energy saving technology, and the dynamic
characteristics. The fuel consumption and curb weight of the China’s
best-selling cars reside between Europe/Japan and the United States, however,
China’s best-selling car fell behind in terms of energy saving technology
application, only few models applying the technology of the variable valve
timing (VVT), turbo charger and other fuel-efficient technologies.
The
average fuel consumption of China’s automobile declined only 1.3% since 2006. In
2012, the average fuel consumption reached 7.38 L / 100 km. To reach the goal of
6.9 L / 100 km in 2015 won’t be too much challenging according to the trend, but
to achieve the national goal of 5 litres per hundred kilometers in 2020 will be.
The average fuel consumption needs to be reduced continuously around 5% each
year during the period of "Thirteenth Five year Plan".
The below table is
the 2012 General Green Ranking of China Environmental Friendly Vehicles.
