iCET hosts Mr. Su Wei, Director General of the Department of Climate Change, NDRC China and Matthew Rodriquez (Secretary of the California Environmental Protection Agency), Mary Nichols (Chairman of the California Air Resources Board) and Robert Weisenmiller (Chair of the California Energy Commission) in Los Angeles to advance California-NDRC collaboration.
On February 7, 2014, iCET, together with the Climate Action Reserve (CAR) and The Climate Registry (TCR), hosted Su Wei, Director General from the NDRC Department of Climate Change and his NDRC delegation in a day-long event to further advance California-NDRC formal collaboration on climate change. On Sept 2013, California and NDRC signed a first-of-its-kind agreement on climate change. During the follow-up meeting to the start of the MOU in 2013, senior leaders from CAR gave presentations to NDRC on California’s carbon market and the design of next generation offsets program using standardized approaches. TCR also presented on emission inventory reporting and registries. Feng An, President of iCET, introduced the China Climate Registry, Clean Transportation Program and all of iCET’s work of transferring AB 32 best practices to China as well as the US-China Clean Tech Center. To end the morning session, Rick Cole, Deputy Mayor of Los Angeles for Budget and Innovation, spoke to the audience regarding Los Angeles’ climate change program.
